Religion

The Alignments available to characters take the form of religions. For most characters following a religion has little effect, Priests however gain access to various paths and skills based of their religion. Also in some cases a priest must specialise within a religion, gaining two Alignments rather than one.

Ancestor Worship
Ancestor worship is a widespread religion, but the specifics vary between the different groups, it is favoured by dwarves because of their strong emphasis on clan and family. Ancestor worshippers belive they are protected and guided by the ghosts of their ancestors, generally only the most strong-willed are able to reach back across the veil to contact the living and the rituals performed by worshippers make the process easier. As they are guiding their own decendents ancestor spirits tend to be very involved and prone to meddling, but often disagree on what should be done.

The Divine Pantheon
The Divine Pantheon is the primary religion followed by humans, it consists of thirteen (or fourteen by some counts) gods. The majority of it’s followers worship all the gods, praying and sacrificing to whichever one is appropriate at the time. The gods are jealous of their priests however who must choose one god to follows above the others.

The Star Gods
The Star Gods are the ancient religions of elves and orcs. Despite being referred to as gods, they are actually heroic archetypes and philosophies. Each archetype has a representative constellation, and people who follow their teachings can use powers like those granted by gods. Unlike the Divine Pantheon most followers of the Star Gods choose an individual philosophy, rather than following whichever is convenient at the time.
